I was born and raised in the Phoenix desert—a landscape shaped by intense sun, rugged mountains, and the surprising beauty of things that find a way to bloom in difficult conditions.
Perhaps it was inevitable that, after spending much of my life in the Southwest, my path would eventually carry me from the desert to the ocean.
I've experienced many landscapes in between—and explored many different parts of myself along the way: photographer, author, poet, yoga and meditation instructor, wellness educator, community program leader, and end-of-life doula.
While those paths may seem different, they have always shared a common thread: creativity, connection, compassion, and helping people feel supported as they navigate life.
Life has a way of asking us to leave one shore before we can see the next—to release what was familiar and step into something new, often without knowing exactly where it will lead.
I've learned that beginning again isn't failure. It's part of being human.
Hidden there in the name of my birthplace is a symbol that has come to represent one of the greatest lessons of my life:
We don't move through life unchanged.
We learn. We adapt. We grow. We begin again.
And sometimes, like the Phoenix, we discover that what looked like an ending was simply the beginning of something new.
